To Add a New Account
Log into your Control Panel and click on the "Email Settings" icon. Click the "Add New Account" button at the top of the page. In the pop up window, enter the username (the part before the @ symbol) that you wish to use for this email account, and check the boxes for the features that you want to use on this particular address. For each option that you select, more information will appear below to fill out.
For the POP settings, enter your preferred password.
For forwarder settings, you can enter one or several email addresses to forward mail to. Please include each unique email address on its own line (separated with a "return carriage" or "enter"). For group forwarding, the limit is typically around 20 email addresses (there is no exact number but there is a character limit).
For autoresponder settings, type your message in the first box, and your preferred Subject in the second box. The last box labeled "Also Notify" allows you to include another email address that you want to forward copies of the incoming emails to. (For example, if you will be away from your computer for a few days, you can create a temporary "out of office" message and also include a coworkers email address in the Also Notify box so that he/she can receive copies of your emails and assist with them while you are gone.
Editing Current Settings
Beside each active email address, there are 3 columns for POP, Forwarder, and Autoresponder.
If a feature is already activated for that address, the icon will be green and say "Active". If you want to edit the current settings of an active feature, you can simply click on this "Active" button. The wizard will display your current settings and allow you to edit, replace, or delete them.
If a feature is not enabled for that address, the button under the column will be a red "Off". You can click this button to enable the feature with some new settings.
Deleting An Email Account
If you want to completely remove a certain email address from the list, you simply need to delete any features that are "active" for that address. Once all features are set to "off", the email account will no longer exist and will be removed from the list. (If the email address still appears after deleting all the features, please try refreshing your web browser.)
Catch-all Address
The "catch-all" address will accept any emails that are addressed to misspelled or bogus email addresses at your domain name. It can either forward those messages to someone, or it can auto-reply with some pre-written text (eg: "Sorry, there is no mailbox by that name at this domain. Please check the spelling and try again.").
By default, this setting is usually set to "active" and will forward all non-specific messages to the admin contact for the hosting account. If you only want to receive emails that are specifically addressed to persons in your list of setup email accounts, you may delete this setting so that it is set to "off".
Important Notes
-
The
User ID for the POP accounts is NOT necessarily the same
as your web hosting account userid. You need to assign
unique ids and passwords for access to the POP email
accounts to ensure privacy.
-
Do
NOT put www. before the domain name in your POP
settings.
-
Different
email programs may have particular methods of entering
the set up information, or it may appear slightly
different than what you see above. Please consult your
program documentation or the manufacturer for
assistance.
-
Your
current Internet connection provider should be able to
provide you with the correct SMTP/Outgoing Mail server
information. Please contact them directly for this
information.
-
Do not
remove the default mail forwarding address in Email
Settings.
